Drop-snap Instability
This water droplet is in the process of the "snapping" instability which occurs when it separates off from a faucet. This hydrodynamic instability is poorly understood. Understanding such drop snapping instabilities is important, not just in the terrestrial world, but may be important also for our understanding about the formation of stars.
